Antonio S. Espejo (Philippines)
Chair

Tony has the distinction of being the first Filipino graduate of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England. He is the founding Artistic Director of Gantimpala Theater Foundation, the pioneer in the production of original Filipino plays in a laboratory setting. He is also the former Associate Artistic Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He is currently in charge of advertising and promotions of Bench/Suyen Corporation, the maverick garments manufacturer and acknowledged style trend-setter. He also serves as professional lecturer/director in theater at the La Salle schools system. He is a recipient of numerous citations and awards of distinction from various organizations.

Jomar Fleras (Philippines)
President and Chief Executive Officer

A cum laude graduate of Business Administration from the University of the Philippines, Jomar has taken up public health courses at the Harvard School of Public Health, the East-West Center University of Hawaii, the University of Southern California and Curtin University of technology. He has 15 years of experience in the development of communication materials related to population and development. He is also an accomplished journalist, playwright and filmmaker. He has received national awards in playwriting in the Philippines. His documentary films have been shown in various international film festivals. He has produced TV public service announcements that have won international advertising awards. He has received certificates of recognition from both the California House of Representatives and the Senate. He is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research.

Grace O Orteza, MD (Philippines)

Jing is a clinical associate professor and practicing neurologist at the Department of Neuroscience, University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital. SHe is a fellow of the Philippine Neurological Association. She is also an associate professor at the Department of Psychology at the De La Salle University. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of the Philippines, where she also earned her Master of Arts in Psychology. Her current work is in the area of aging and dementia. She is the author of numerous scientific publications and principal investigator of a number of researches.

Allan M. Tumbaga (Philippines)
Treasurer

Allan is a B.S. Physics degree holder from the De La Salle University. He earned his Masters in Business Management at the Asian Institute of Management where he was a full scholar. Currently, he is Vice-President and Marketing Division Head of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation. He is also director and treasurer of the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines and Director and Secretary of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.

 

 

Peter Purdy (USA)
Member

Peter is president of the United States Committee for the United Nations Population Fund. He is responsible for interpreting and promoting the work of the UNFPA to the American public and the US Congress as well as generating support for the UNFPA activities worldwide. He was formerly a director of Margaret Sanger Center International.

 

 

 

Virgina Sonya C. Rahardjo, PhD (Indonesia)
Member

Sonya is a nutritionist and educator. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of the Philippines; her Diploma in Graduate Applied Nutrition from the University of Indonesia; her Master of Science in Food and Nutrition, specialist in education, and PhD in Education all from the Florida State University. She is the adviser for education and health projects of the British Council in Indonesia and former program manager for the AIDS Surveillance and Education Program of the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health.

 

Suketaka Iwanaga, MD, PhD (Japan)
Member

Taka has worked with the Family Planning/Maternal and Child Health mission of the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Central Luzon, Philippines for four years. He obtained his medical degree from the Fukuoka University and his PhD in Public Health from the Okayama University, Japan. His professional affiliations include Association of Medical Doctors of Asia, Japanese Association for Acute Medicine, the Japan Society of Hepatology, and the Japanese Academy of Primary Care Physicians.

 

 

Joel A. Cruz (United Kingdom)
Member

Joel received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Schille's College in London. He has been a labor attaches with the Philippine Mission to the United Nations; The Hague, Netherlands; Baghada, Iraq; and London, England. He has taken postgraduate courses in Art History at Christie's in London and is currently a respected art and antiques dealer.

 

 

 

Jenny Collins (Australia)
Member

Originally from Scarborough, United Kingdom, Jenny is now a naturalized Australian. She is a Lecturer/Coordinator on Continuing Eduction at the School of Public Health in Curtin University of Technology , Perth, Australia. She also coordinates short courses in HIV/AIDS and family planning for international health workers and the post graduate diploma in health promotion (distance learning program). She received the vice-chancellor's award for excellence for promotional work in the area of HIV/AIDS and family planning in developing countries.

 

 

Consuelo Maria Zamora (Philippines)

Chelo is a graduate of Political Science and a Juris Doctor from the Ateneo de Manila University. She received an award for Best Thesis of Class 1995 for "Sex Offenders with AIDS: How shouuld they be punished?" She ligitated cases involving family issues, property, lobar and anti-dumping issues. She is also a stockholder of some of Manila's trendiest restaurants such as Raj Modern Indian Restaurant, Acquario Liquid Lounge and TGI Friday's.
